Being a central focal point, your nose is key to a balanced and beautiful face. However, if you’re unsatisfied with the appearance of your nose, or experience breathing problems, then rhinoplasty surgery may help improve your health and give you new found confidence.
A rhinoplasty is a relatively standard surgical procedure used to enhance the shape of the nose and can also address breathing issues.
You may benefit from rhinoplasty surgery if:
Wrinkles or expression lines are the result of a number of events that act together as we age, these lines become more prominent. A complex set of changes take place at a cellular level — the degradation of collagen from excessive ultraviolet exposure, changes in hormonal levels and the damaging effects of free radicals.
Anti-wrinkle treatment is relatively simple and relatively painless. A muscle relaxant substance, a highly purified protein derived from a bacterial toxin (similar to penicillin being derived from a fungal mould) is administered by injection into the respective muscles. A frozen ice pack is applied to the treatment area for a few minutes to ease any discomfort. Treatment is quick and straightforward and is often described as a “lunchtime” procedure.
Double chin treatment for the Eastern Suburbs area involves the injection (multiple injections) of a non-human, non-animal chemical into the fat pad below the chin. The chemical is deoxycholic acid, a component of bile acids (bile acids role in our body is to digest fats ingested in our diet).
When deoxycholic acid is injected into the chin fat pad, it causes the fat cells to break down. This sets up an intense inflammatory reaction which then activates the scavenger mechanism in our skin to mop up the debris. This treatment is indicated for people who have a desire to eliminate their double chin — with the best results seen in those with moderate to severe chin fat pad.
Visual signs of ageing are caused by two events. There is chronological ageing and environmental ageing. Chronological ageing is a normal process — changes tend to be subtle — there is general shrinkage of the skin, dryness, loss of elasticity, and fine wrinkles may appear.
Photoageing or environmental ageing is due in large part to chronic sun exposure and other self-indulgent activities such as cigarette smoking. Photo-aged skin is also more prone to skin cancers. At Shire Cosmetic Medicine we have a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light Machine (IPL) which is excellent for treating red veins, brown pigmentation caused by sun damage, rosacea and much more.
